Public Safety & Emergency Radio Responder Communications

Reliable Two-Way Radio for Life Threatening Emergencies

Reliable Signals for
Critical Communication.

Modern buildings can significantly degrade radio signals, putting first responders at risk during emergencies. First Responder Radio systems ensure uninterrupted, in-building radio communication so emergency personnel can coordinate safely and effectively.

New York Fire Detection, Inc. designs, installs, tests, and maintains public safety radio systems to meet local code requirements and AHJ expectations across New York and New Jersey.

FDNY Auxiliary Radio Communication System (ARCS) — NYC

The FDNY Auxiliary Radio Communication System (ARCS) is a code-mandated life safety system introduced in the 2014 New York City Building Code to ensure FDNY maintains reliable two-way radio communication inside buildings during emergencies.

These systems are required in qualifying NYC buildings and are designed to:

  • Maintain radio communication regardless of building size or construction materials
  • Support coordinated emergency response and firefighter safety
  • Remain operational under adverse conditions

New York Fire is experienced in the design, commissioning, testing, reporting, and ongoing maintenance of FDNY ARCS 2.0 systems in full compliance with FDNY requirements and procedures.

Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA) Systems

Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA) systems are used throughout New Jersey, Long Island, and Upstate New York to improve in-building public safety radio coverage. These systems amplify radio signals between the building and the local fire department’s radio infrastructure to eliminate dead zones.

BDA systems are typically required when radio testing demonstrates inadequate coverage inside a structure.

Our Emergency Radio Responder Communication (ERRC) Capabilities Include:

  • In-building radio testing and signal analysis
  • Engineered system design based on coverage requirements
  • IB Wave Propagation Analysis & Heat Maps
  • Installation, commissioning, and AHJ acceptance support
  • Ongoing testing and maintenance

Designed for Compliance and Long-Term Support

First responder radio systems are not “install and forget” solutions. They require:

  • Periodic testing and documentation
  • Coordination with AHJs and fire departments
  • Ongoing maintenance to ensure continued performance

New York Fire Detection & Service provides end-to-end support to keep these systems compliant, operational, and ready when they’re needed most.
